Dr. Binh Trinh is surgeon who specializes in surgery of the lung and chest. He is a member of the Lung Transplant Program at UCSF Medical Center. He treats patients with tumors of the chest including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal tumors and mesothelioma and benign conditions such as lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema, hyperhidrosis, diaphragmatic hernia and tracheal stenosis. He has interest in less painful minimally invasive approaches including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotics application. His research background include the role of DNA methylation in cancer, cancer early detection, and prognosis for lung and esophagus.
Dr. Trinh earned dual medical degrees from a joint M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He went on to complete his General Surgery residency at LAC/USC followed by a Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship at UCSF. He joined the staff at UCSF in 2016. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons and American Medical Association.
