Named after the pioneering surgeon, Dr. Thomas Hunt  (1930-2019), who helped develop the trauma unit at the  then San Francisco General Hospital (now ZSFG) and  best known for his extensive research in to wound  healing, the Thomas K. Hunt Memorial fellowship is intended to support medical students interested in  pursuing an academic career in general surgery or  surgical oncology.
